SPINS meet the representatives of the government and found a partner in the project of on-line studying

Slovenian professional football players union (SPINS) and Slovenian
sports union (SŠS) had a meeting with the director of the Faculty of
Applied Social and Business Studies Maribor, so called DOBA. An
agreement on a partnership in the project of distance learning (e-learning)
for the athletes has been reached. The project will be assisted by the
Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, and is expected
to begin operating in the beginning of the school year 2011/2012.


After two official meetings with senior representatives of the Ministry of
Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia,
where all the results and proceedings of the FIFPro workshop in Ljubljana,
with the main topic of the preparation of the specific project of a distance
learning (e-learning) for the athletes and all the previous procedures and
phases were chronologically presented, now the project in Slovenia is
brought a step closer to its implementation.

In order to follow the objectives and goals that were set at meetings with
the Ministry representatives, both of the sports unions produced a detailed
analysis of the organization and status of implementation of the so-called
distance learning (e-learning) at higher education level, in the Republic
of Slovenia and abroad. The results showed that the DOBA Faculty
could already apply with established programs and modern studying
approaches as a reliable partner to the project, which includes specific
target group, athletes. Faculty DOBA has a modern, European vision,
with outstanding, in practice-oriented academic programs and flexible
system that will allow athletes to get the necessary knowledge in special
and personalized manner.

Director of the Faculty expressed exceptional interest and willingness
to participate in the project. She presented couple of examples of the
successful work in the past, programs, forms of study, which are
conducting and also put out some examples of good practice and
suggestions of cooperating with athletes in the future.

At the end of October will, representatives of SPINS and Slovenian
Sports Union, together with the Director of the Faculty DOBA, made
the third official visit at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and
Technology, in order to comply with a request of the Ministry and
present the common grounds and objectives of the project, while trying
to make an agreement on how to found better conditions of study
for the athletes.
